I'm having a hard time choosing a new HDM title to pick up as I continue to build up my collection so I thought I'd get some input from the purple folks only please.

I've been picking up a lot of BD titles lately but my HD collection needs help too... which would be the best choice of these?

Con Air - BD
Backdraft - HD
Dune - HD
Casino - HD
Van Wilder - BD

edit - not sure how to edit a poll but I was also considering a double dip on The Descent - BD.

Thanks!:p

Being a David Lynch fan, I had no choice but to vote for "Dune".

Con-Air is reference for catalog titles. It blows the DVD out of the water. The overhead vegas scenes towards the end are especially good.

Dune is just a really goofy movie. Rent it first. Happy I did. After all the hype around it, I almost bought it a few times, but after a rental, I was very happy I didn't JMO.

I said Casino but it depends on what type of movie you want. Casino is my favorite on that list, next would be Dune followed by a tie between Backdraft and Vanwilder

Casino or Con Air ! But like someone else said, it depends on what type of movie you like?

I like them all... that's why I'm not sure which one to grab. They would get repeated play depending on mood. Comedy always seems to have more replay value but is pretty dull when it comes to audio.

I love Dune... saw it twice in the theaters and I do not own it in any format. Only issue with that one is one viewing would last a while and I probably would not pop it in again for several months.

Casino is just fantastic and Con Air is dumb fun and fairly age friendly. Backdraft is on the list more for what I've read about the impressive PQ witht he fire scenes. The Descent would be a double dip so that is probably the lowest on my list.

Dune or Casino for sure. I picked Casino.

If you're going to do this everytime you have $20 burning a hole in your pocket, it's going to get really annoying around here.

Definitely Con Air BD. I love Casino and it looks terrific on HD DVD but IMO it's foolish to invest any more into a dead format so I can't in good consciousness recommend it.

This thread will not last. And that is a good thing. Things like this just clutter AVS.

It's science-fantasy like Star Wars. It's very good for it's genre though the movie is far too compressed from the books and not everything gets fleshed out well.

Hit F11

(DVD Profiler Movie Pick :D)

I went with Casino - too many great actors to pass up. Con Air would be fun, but you can get explosions in a lot of movies.

Dune is my vote. One of the very few titles I owned on DVD. Classic tale of good and evil, set with great Sci Fi exagerations. Tho folding space certainly goes along with 11th dimension membrane theory that is in vogue today.

Casino's a classic... plus it looks amazing in HD

went with Van Wilder since it is a great movie and I gotta believe that Tara Reid in HD is worth the price of admission alone.

I'd say Con Air or Casino. Hard choice... Casino is hard to watch over and over just because it's so long, even though it's really good. Con Air is a fun movie that's easier to watch more often, but it's not going to hit AFI's top 100 any time soon.

Casino. However Van Wilder as a second choice for the reason cited by Nucleartiger. :)

I did not care much for Con Air and Dune was slow for my taste.

I can just definately say that Van Wilder is the worse in that list. PQ is such a dissapointment.

Film Value - Casino
Entertainment Value - Con Air

Let's let the poll run it's course. There is no harm, but I do agree we don't want the forum popluated with each member conducting polls to decide what movies to buy. OP, please refrain from this type of thread in the future.

BTW, I would buy "Goodfellas" :)
