Great news, that post makes it seem like another year at least until its ready to go

Yes, it will be '09 before the hardware ships, but this is big news for current and prospective Kaleidescape owners, many of whom wondered if they'd need new SERVERS from Kaleidescape to support the hi-def formats. This news means that owners will just need a new player, and that prospective owners won't need to worry about having obsolete servers (the big ticket item) in just a year.

Yes, this is exciting news, however... the announcement is worded carefully to reflect the fact that managed copy is not fully hammered out yet. I am encouraged by the fact that K is confident enough in what is to come that it is willing to preannounce like this. But it still takes effort on the part of the Blu-Ray and/or AACS folks to pull this off.
