Hey guys, just a general question here. I've been using HCFR for quite sometime & have achieved some really good results paired with my Display 2. I was just wondering what the major advantages of having a program like Colorfacts would be? I know Colorfacts price point is $3500 but what is so different about Colorfacts vs. an awesome freeware program like HCFR?

Thanks guys.

Colorfacts was released several years ago when there were no low-cost alternatives. It also supports many more hardware devices. It is also somewhat easier to use, employing a series of hand-holding wizards. However, otherwise the feature set is roughly similar.

Greetings

One is geared to the professional market and the other is not. The CF has more features and is overall easier to use.

Hey thank u both for your responses!!! Now one last thing, as far as accuracy in results would that just be dependent on the hardware used or would the software have something to do with that as well??

Thank u again guys!!!

Greetings

Generally a hardware thing ... unless the interface is designed wrong. The CS 200 minolta device for instance does not give light values correctly on the CF if the CS 200 is set to ft-L light output. The unit defaults to cd/m^2 ... but those that like to use the CS200 alone can also change the Cd/m thing to f-L ... and this messes with the CF interface.

If there are hardware issues ... it is usually easier to get around them with a software fix than a redesigning the hardware.

Let's say you find that the spyder 2 pod was always off by 800K to the red ... when you used LCD projectors. Well you change the software to ask you what type of display you are calibrating and this information kicks in the "fix" for the spyder probe.
