***** CalBOY has been renamed ControlCAL *****

ControlCAL v1.4 RC1 is now available! - Formerly SSPC - Simple Serial Projector Control (and CalBOY for 1 Day).

CLICK HERE FOR THE ControlCAL FORUM THREAD (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=977617)

ControlCAL is my RS232 Control Application. ControlCAL will allow you to send and receive pretty much any available commands to any projector that allows RS232 control (in 'Advance' Mode).

You may need the document that shows the RS232 codes for your specific projector model.

"CalMAN" is trademarked isn't it?

Since August of 2005.

Let's see if I can can help Shawn out...

SSPC - Suspect?
Serial Control - Serial Killer?
Simple Serial - Simple Simon?
Projector Control - ProCon? (there are things I like and don't like about this name... ;) )
Projector - PJ Flasher?
Projector Control - PJ Tamer?
A little whimsical - "Skippy"

You get the idea.

One of the products I developed when I was at Seattle Lab was a serial control language with a runtime complier and p-code interrupter and internal names we used where:
SeriaLink, SLink, SerialNet and SerNet

Suggestions and Feedback Welcome!

Here is my suggestion. CHANGE the name. Whether covered by copyright or trademark laws, CalBOY is an obvious attempt to benefit from the name CalMAN. I strongly recommend you change it as I can see this getting ugly otherwise.

Well hello.. :D

I just replied to Bill's PM before reading this thread's recent replies. No worries, I have other choices I can use. :D

With my app(s), I'm just trying to contribute back and provide solutions for other Members who share similar HT interests/problems with myself.

I'm not arguing with the "change the name" idea, but seriously..... It sounds more like parody to me than an attempt to benefit.

Shawn, if you need some help with a name just let me know. I'm pretty good at it. Looks like you need to have an acronym or a hybrid of calibration, serial, display, projector and control.

I think you might be better off getting a 9pin male-female from monoprice.

although i'm not sure if the 9pin serial to 8pin din is readily available...i'm just assuming it's not
