This will be for a corporate boardroom (bank) and mostly for presentation (power point)

Conference table is very large, the distance between end of the table and wall is about 30 feet

The 103” screens are nice but out of our budget which is between $15-25K

We have a proposal for a projector, screen, etc. plus ceiling work but it requires a lot of time +light/electrical relocation work and is more than $25K so we are looking at the option of getting a plasma screen.

Thanks for your help

or you could get 4 50 inch plasmas and put them around the room.

We thought about something similar, a 65" screen on either end since we have doors on 1 side and windows on the other but if there was a person talking doing a presentation 1/2 of the attendees in the room would be looking away (opposite) of the presenter.

But thanks for the idea

hmmm

bigger than 65" on 15-25k budget? Is this for just the display or does it need to include installation, electrical etc?

I was thinking Orion display but that is $34k retail for 84 inches.

biggest is 65 inches after that they jump to 103 inches.

You might want to look into video wall processors + Plasma/LCD panels see if that fits your budget.

something like this

edit:

well did some research into video walls and processors. Need at least 4 video processors PLUS the displays plus a way to split and scale the image. Going to be difficult to do it under $25k. :(

$15-25K for the display you mean? :)

Orion PK-8401 is the model number.

I'm thinking your best bet is a large DLP-based RPTV. The Optoma BigVizion can be built into a false wall with only 32-34" of depth. Sounds like that room can spare that. I'm pretty sure you can get that done for less than $25K complete (including the false wall).

PC based videowall processors, I have seen, are 1000-1500 usd per license/screen. Or you would have to use one license, and be limited to 1080p(?) the screens doing the scaling of this 1/4 th hd image to their native resolution, of course the vendor who suggested this to me at ISE last year was not too keen on that option;-). Nor was I, but he claims 'hardware' processors like Zandar (a Zandar rep stopped by while I was at this guy's booth) would cost 20-25K, so his 5K is a competitive option.

How much are the DLP cubes going for these days, Barco, and Christie would be well above budget, but perhaps Mitsubishi or Clarity have something interesting on offer?

LG has a 71 inch.

While this display isn't great for home theater from a picture standpoint, it would work fine for presentations. Also, this retails for more like ~13k or so for the unit. its a plasma for the OP btw, tons of static images might be an issue.

One option may be a projector with the Xscreen http://www.runco.com/xscreen.html

I explored this option for my multi-purpose HT room, but decided on a plasma and a projector set-up. In any case, this may be a good option for dealing with ambient light issues for a projector set-up.

This is a plasma look-a-like version of the DNP supernova isn't it.

Good lord, how could a PJ, screen and install be over $25K?!? Something's not right. We just did two banks, albeit with LCD panels, for $3750 each w/sound. Including getting electrical to the right places.

Well start with a Barco XDC 3000, and go from there:D. 4x 25K +;-).

There are commercial plasmas that have built in capability for video wall situations. Samsung does it, maybe Panasonic too. NEC almost for sure. 4x2 42" plasmas give ~84" diag picture. There is the bezel issue, but it will work and within budget.

The large LG panel is disco'd, but if you could find one it would work. The 70" SOny would work but its 33k by itself.

A 71" Samsung DLP rearpro might work. Certainly fits well within the budget at around 5k. They are still only a foot and a half deep.

Do you have any info or link on the 80" samsung panel? I can't find it. I know they make a 70" version of the 81 series with a MSRP of $40k, 30k for a 80" seems low (if its LCD it seems very low to me)

There was an 80" Samsung SDI plasmapanel, that used to be the bigeest commercially available plasma display, till Panasonic started selling the 100. Sony was said to be the one actually selling units, under the Qualia banner. Not sure if Samsung is still making the panels, let alone in commercial quantities.

i'm not sure, the business end of the samsung website shows some networkable LCD sets up to 70" (actually an interesting piece for a commercial application)

Will try to get for you. My Samsung rep told me about it the other day...
It could have been a 70". hmmm, I make sure I find out tomorrow.

Note the sony 70" LCD does not have rs-232 control. You're also stuck using the sony wall mount.

The MSRP on the 70" commercial unit (can be turned horizontal or vertical + networking + PIP functions for digital signage) has an MSRP of slightly over 35k
