Not sure if this has been already discussed (tried searching, but couldn't find any).
I have the LinkStation Live 500 Gb (DLNA certified) NAS box streaming content to my PS3 and quite happy about the new DivX/XviD support. However, the PS3 fails to look up all the folders on the NAS box (while I can see all the folders from my laptop though). Is this something to do with re-indexing? If so, how could I do that? Appreciate your comments
Thanks

The NAS must recognize a valid media filetype in the folder in order for the folder to appear. For example, if the folder is filled with only *.txt files, you will not see the folder. Your laptop is (probably) not connecting via the DNLA interface, so the filtering is not applied for it - that's why you can see those folders.
Does the Buffalo have a Settings management screen in which you can "Refresh" the media database? Try clicking that. Then, restart your Playstation. The restart isn't necessary, but in my experience you will have to wait 10 or 15 minutes for new items to show up if you don't restart.
Thanks for your response and after some more digging, I found the "Refresh" option under the "PCast" section in the browser.
I had a problem with directories that showed up on earlier occasions would suddenly vanish.
PS: Does anyone know if QuickTime (.mov), H.264 within an MPEG-4 container (.mp4) and Real media (.rm) would be supported in the future by PS3?

I am having a problem that I hope someone may be able to help me with.
I have a 500GB linkstation NAS on my network and a PS3, I can see my PC running WMC on the PS3 and access all the MP3's and pictures but I can see the Buffalo media server but when I go to music - folders or artists or albums (you get the idea) I see nothing and get the msg no files found.
I have tried the refresh, and am running FW 2.10 on the buffalo

Anyone have any ideas??
I'm having exactly same problem as you (PS3 and LS Live). Did you find any solution?

Seems like I am having a similar problem.
I have a 500GB linkstation NAS on my Network and a PS3.
All was working good...I was able to access the media server from the PS3 and watch some movie clips, view pictures and play music that I have under the share on the NAS.
Then yesterday I had to reboot everything...and now its not working.
The PS3 sees the Media Server...but when go look at the items it says .."No files found"...
I verified that everything running..did refresh with PCast, etc.
It just doesnt see any of the media files anymore...but does know there is Linkstation NAS out there.
I can access the media on the NAS form my PC and Sonos without any problems.

Gave up on trying to get the Linkstation media server working with my PS3.
Disabled PCAST and installed Twonkymedia server on the Linkstation instation instead....and it works like a charm and much easier to setup.
I have tried many times and still can't get twonky to install on my linkstation, how did you do it and what version of the software did you use??

Yeah...took me awhile to figure it out.
Depending on what firmware version your LS is.
Mine has the latest which changed alot of things....(2.10 i think)
I did some digging on the twonky forums and turns out the best version of Twonky to use is the one for Kuro Box Pro.
http://twonkyvision.de/Download/TwonkyMedia/TM4Technicians.html
I followed the instruction from here:
http://buffalo.nas-central.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2999&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
But used the Kuro Box Pro version instead of the LS Pro one they mention.
*note* although the instructions and the NASetup program tell you that the config page can be accessed at port 9000 its actually 9001. So <your NAS ip address>:9001
Works great...My PS3 see it just fine and can access any media I have placed on my shared directories.
Twonky is free to use for 30days....then you are suppose to buy a key.
Considering how great its working I will be buying it.
