I just got a copy of DVE and have a question on grayscale tracking. I'm new at the calibration thing, but am enjoying tweaking the projector. I'm using an Epson HC 400 which allows you to adjust the gamma settings. I have a light meter and I measured the lux output of the projector at the 5% grayscale steps. I saw that the curve was almost at 2.2 gamma. I adjusted so that I matched 2.2 and the image looks like the white highlights are way to bright.

I'm wondering if I am in left field by using a light meter and not a colorimeter to measure the grayscale, or that my tweaking is just wrong? Any suggestions. Thanks

Greetings

Light meter tells you the amount of light ... not if the light is green or red or blue ...

You have made a good start. But as Michael points out a light meter does not give you the RGB balance at those 5% levels like a colorimeter or a spectroradiometer does.
