I just picked up a Belkin PF-30 Console. There seems to be a lot of varying opinions on what one should/should not have protecting one's investment.

From a strictly protection aspect, is this sufficient?

Though it doesn't offer complete voltage regulation it does offer noise suppression. Is this a good unit?

Fire at will. :D:D:D

Honestly, that was the same unit I was planning ordering.

Going through this myself right now, and found you can get the PF60 for the price of PF30 right now at Keenzo.com. For this price, I'm leaning towards the PF60.

Since I just upgraded my TV in the bedroom to a 32" Sony Bravia, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good power/surge protector at a resaonable price. (Please no Monster products). All I have connected to the Sony is a DVD player and VCR. There is no amp or home theater processor. I know there is a lot of snake oil and gadgetry out there, but we do get our share of power outages here.

I always have had great experience with APC units.

Will the Belkin PureAV PF30 do a decent job? Temporarily I am using a cheap Panamax 6 outlet surge protector and it doesn't seem to help. I don't need the PF60 for just the DVD, VCR and LCD in the bedroom. Amazon does have a pretty good price on them. Will it eliminate the surge and instantaneous volume drop through the TV when it the fan is turned on?

From everything I have read both here and other source material, I have complete confidence in the PF30.

When comparing similar priced units, I don't believe any others will work better.

 Before you spark up the flamethrowers, ;)
I didn't say the Belkin is better. I said it, IMO is as good as other comparably priced units.

Is there two different PF30's besides black and silver? I noticed Amazon and most other sites list two different prices on their web sites.

There are console and power strip type units.
Consoles can either sit in an entertainment center or w/ supplied brackets occupy a single slot in a rack.

The two different prices were for the same PF30 unit. I decided to go ahead and order one through Amazon who had the best price. It appears to be a good unit and the price is right. Thanks for all the help.

I have a PureAV power conditioner + surge protection and last night night I had a lightning storm go right over my house.

Lightning struck very close to my house...not sure how close but it had to have been close because my power went out...when it came on my PureAV had to be reset like it normally does when the power goes out. My ground fault had tripped so I reset that...I got a buzzing noise from the PureAV.

Can someone tell me if that buzzing noise is a result of a Surge Protector doing it's job? I wonder if I actually got hit last night.

Another question I had: If the protector is hit...is it a one and done sort of thing or could it still be good to continue using provided I can get the buzzing noise to stop?

Either way I got everything moved over to my Cyberpower UPS now.

Need quick help.....I just brought A Samsung DLP LED 61A750 home! Am pumped to get it hooked up! My question is this. I bought a monster surge protector HTS800 and it is rated for 1850 joules but the guy at CC said it wont protect the TV as it has to be at least 2700 joules. Does anyone know if this is true or is it fine to use the one I bought??? Thanks!

I have the HT810ISOCTR from TrippLite. I have been very pleased with it overall. The MSRP on the site is way off. Usually goes for 120-130 or so. The Coax supports HD signals unlike some of the others...

I was wondering will the addition of a Belkin PureAV™ Home Theater Power Console PF30 or PF60 cure a "ground loop" problem, or the oh so popular "buzz, hiss, or hum" problem that so many people talk about on this forum. I know the hiss sound can come from multiple different things but if its a ground loop will this fix the problem? Any other Pros and Con to getting this Power console?

I don't believe the Belkin will "cure" your ground loop problem. I have a ground loop coming from my NHT subwoofer, and everything is going through a PS Audio Power Director. Is the ground loop coming through your speakers? Try 'lifting' the ground from your receiver or amp to see if that will cure the problem. DO NOT CUT THE BOTTOM GROUND PIN OFF of the power cord. Try using one of those 3 pin to 2 pin "cheater plug" adapters to see if that helps. I know when I tried it made the ground loop in my sub worse. I am using the Belkin PF30 for my bedroom TV, and DVD player. It is a very good unit for the price.
This web site should also help.

thanks for the reply moose.
Tried the 2 pin and no change.
Im not 100% sure that it is a ground loop prob. that I am experiencing. But its about all that I can figure out at this point. I have the typical quiet hiss at very high volumes (95-100%) but i also have what sounds like a buzz coming from my speakers that become noticeable around 88% volume. Cant isolate what is causing it. Ive unplugged Tv, sub and other components but still there. Oh well who knows..

How about your interconnects cables and speaker cables. Are they shielded? Also make sure you don't run your speaker cables parallel with your power cables. There are a number of other things that can cause the problem too. I have used Blue Jean cables for a lot of my cables and they make really good shielded cables for the price. He will also answer a lot of your questions you might have about your hiss and hum problem.
