View Full Version : Samsung 5084 - 1022 firmware - anyone have it for download?

I got my 5084 last month and it has the 1015 firmware. I get the green line at times and also a green/white line at the top of video I stream to my Xbox 360 (via component). Also it seems like the HDMI doesn't handshake with my HD-DVR cable box at times for a second or two.

I have tried to get Samsung to send me the firmware and they will not. They claim I don't have any problems and there's no reason to. Once a woman in tier one said they would mail it to me but it never came.

Does anyone out there have a copy and would be willing to email to me? Or can you tell me what magic thing I can say to someone at Samsung to get a copy of this?

Even if it doesn't fix my issues I have to think there's SOMETHING it fixes I'll likely run up against - I'm currently two revisions behind, there must be some fixes in there I can utilize.

Any help appreciated.

The green line at the top of the screen is usually the pixel shift mechanism. I've had issues with my panel with slow motion, stuttering, frame drop sputtering every once in awhile. I haven't requested a firmware update (but want to), maybe you can try out that excuse and see how it works for you. I've had numerous service calls on my 5084, all stemming from one issue (buzzing). Every time the guy comes out to fix it, he screws something else up. Fixed the buzzing, scratch the bezel. Fix the bezel, misalign the glass, allow dirt between the panel and glass... I'm somewhat gun shy about having a tech even near my set with something that can go seriously wrong (ala firmware).

don't know if it will help, but check out my post in the "samsung 5084 buzz is driving me crazy" thread. I had a tech out today for the buzz and fixed it.

The buzz is gone, it's the other problems that I'm worried about now.

Downloading software that you recieve from someone other than Samsung would not be a wise thing to do. Look for Samsung to cut bait on your warranty if whatever you download causes a major problem.

Sounds like poor service work from the shop. Have you informed Samsung?
