Hi,

I live in south India my room is in the second floor. We have some heat reducing tiles installed and my room has aircon. However when i am out i dont turn it on and the average temperature in the city tends to be around 32deg cel. My room is very hot at times and i turn on aircon when i am in, keeping the temp down about 24 deg cel. I have wharfedale diamond 9.5 speakers. Is that temprature and sudden change of temperature when i turn on AC bad for my speakers. Please advice.

Hello,

I dare say it does get hot in Southern India but I would not be too concerned. High humidity has an effect on wood but it is likely better to be humid than too dry. As for the speaker drivers, I would think they would be fine. You cannot reduce the hotter indoor temperature when you return home suddenly with AC...but over a period of time. The speakers should endure no special shock because of this.

Will constant heat and cooling cycles involving temperature swings of 8-10 deg. Centigrade or more shorten the ultimate lifespan of the speakers? Perhaps. But you will likely be ready to replace them by then.

Enjoy.
