"The consumer intent to buy HD DVD is still slightly higher than for Blu-ray"

One would have expected a complete turn-around but it appears the Tosh player pricing policy may be blocking BD. If they can maintain this lead there's no reason for U & P to switch sides, in fact with Warner gone, they may increase their sales and we will have HD DVD around for awhile.

Despite the improvement for Blu-ray, NPD also says that less than 10 percent of consumers say they plan to buy a player in either format in the next six months.

This is the biggest hurdle for either format.

I think so...
The consumer intent to buy HD DVD is still slightly higher than for Blu-ray, but NPD says it has declined since Thanksgiving.
I know that even though I'm purple, I still prefer HD DVD. :)

Ok, so more people say they want HD DVD while vastly more actually buy blu-ray. Got it, talk versus the walk :)

Consumers don't prefer HD-DVD, they intend to buy HD-DVD. They are not the same thing, because unfortunately for Toshiba, those intentions have yet to turn into greater sales than Blu-ray.

If they didn't prefer, why would they intend? They prefer to buy something they dislike?

Dude, we know you love HD DVD with a passion, but try to look at things objectively.
