I am putting surround sound in my media room and I am trying to decide between 2 different bids aside from the price which is going to have better sound quality?

Sonance System
- Sonance Cinema Select L-C-R Speakers (Front)
- Sonance Cinema Select Surrounds (Rear)
- Klipsch RW12D Subwoofer

Klipsch System
- Klipsch R-5800-W L-C-R Speakers (Front)
- Klipsch R-5650-S Surrounds (Rear)
- Klipsch RW12D Subwoofer

Both are being powered by
- Denon AVR988 A/V Receiver
- Sony BDP-S500 Blu-Ray Player

What is the size of your room? I am installing the Sonance Cinema Select in my room, but they are meant for smaller spaces. I was able to hear them at my dealer, and in the right size room they sounded fantastic.

I don't have any first hand experience with the Klipsch but I have been told you either really like them or you really don't.

Neither one is very good without an enclosure, at least for Home Theater applications. If you're just doing distributed audio, they're OK by themselves, but for the dynamics involved in HT, you *want* an enclosure:

BTW, both of these speakers systems have an available "fire-rated back box". This is *not* an enclosure. I would ask the manufacturers what enclosure they recommend.

Hey Craig,

Interesting article ... do you think i will have the same problem being that the walls are new construction which a dense blown in fiberglass insulation?

The room is 18' deep by 16' wide.

Thanks,
