My roommate bought the 50PFP5332D and my impressions are not good. SD programming looks terrible, which isn't a big concern, but XBox 360 over component looks bad as well. The resolution is not a problem, but the color and black detail are quite poor.
There is a lot of video noise which I guess is dithering. Are there 6-bit color plasma's? I was only aware of cheap LCD's and DLP's with 6-bit color.
Blacks are not deep at all. When I see 10,000:1 contrast ratio I think CRT black, but this is barely any better than my LCD. What's worse is the black crush. We're trying to play Mass Effect and I can't make out the player character from the shadows.
Based on what I've read, should I suggest to him to take back this display and get a Panasonic? I don't want any dithering and I want good black detail.
