Hello,

Would like a little feedback on the recent calibration that I did.

TV: Pioneer 643HD RPTV
Tools Used: Display 2 and HCFR (AWESOME PROGRAM!)
TV Settings:
Color Temp - Normal
Color -17
Tint -6
Contrast -11
Bright 9
Sharp 12
Detail 0
SVM 0
DRV-R 3 (GAIN/CONTRAST)
DRV-B 4 (GAIN/CONTRAST)
CUT-R -4 (BRIGHT/BIAS)
CUT-G 3 (BRIGHT/BIAS)
CUT-B -7 (BRIGHT/BIAS)

This is my first calibration and am looking for some feedback on how I can improved upon this.

Thanks!

Your greyscale need a lot of work still.

BTW, there is a dedicated thread for posting HCFR calibration results.

the overall adjustments are based on room brightness (day vs. night) and how old and faded out the tv is.
I have had to calibrate my Elite 58" at least once a year as it naturally fades and the geometry needs to be adjusted as well.

Utilizing these settings to adjust greyscale, any ideas on what is the best general strategy to take given the charts above?

DRV-R 3 (GAIN/CONTRAST)
DRV-B 4 (GAIN/CONTRAST)
CUT-R -4 (BRIGHT/BIAS)
CUT-G 3 (BRIGHT/BIAS)
CUT-B -7 (BRIGHT/BIAS)

Thanks, and sorry, but i didn't want to clog up the other thread.:D

If you turn on the individual colour components in the gamma/luminance charts it looks like your blue is completely out of whack.

Off the top of my head you need increase both CUT-R and CUT-B a few notches.

You also need to increase DRV-R a bit and DRV-B a lot. Now it's possible that you've reached the limit of your Red or Blue output, which would mean you need to decrease the global contrast since that is the only way to bring down green.

Greetings

Typical CRT RP behavior. As suggested ... bring up the blue on both ends a bit. This makes the mid range a bit more blue ... but might fix a troubled dark end and whites that don't look right.

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated. I will try these suggestions this weekend.

Another question...I have HCFR set to REC 709. I am utilizing Tom's DVD from I believe GetGray and running it through my Oppo 970 upconverting it to 1080i. Is this correct? or should I use SDTV Rec 601?

Hope this is not a "stupid" question! :)
