I've tried all of the capture softwares. They do great for the DV, howver when I transfer HDV the output looks weird whenever there's movement in the film. It begins to look as though I'm looking through venetian blinds as the image gets stratified.
shot in 1080p24 on my HV20.
any idea? I'd REALLY appreciate it, my daughter is very anxious to see here schoold play.
I have tried on 2 computers
both have 2 GB RAM
one is Win XP MCE , other is Vista Home
both have AMD 3000+ processor.

Which capture softwares did you try ? On the Vista machine the included Windows Movie Maker can capture from the HDV20 in HDV. You can download for free this program, HDVSplit, which is used for most HDV users. Here is the link:

With the HDVSplit you can download in a single file or splitting in several clips. Very easy to use . Your downloaded file can then be imported to any editing software.

I used HDV split.
On the vista machine I tried the included movie maker but it woudln't recognize the HV20 while I had it in HDV mode, I needed to change it to DV only mode.

It looks like you have a codec or a video card driver problem. Are you using a NVIDIA 8XXX card ? I had this Venetian Blind with a bad driver. Other things that can cause problem is a possible software conflict between products from Nero, Roxio , Ulead. Maybe you could describe a little bit better what is your configuration with Vista.

Sounds to me like a deinterlacing problem. Some of the media players wouldn't play HDV properly. You can download the freeware VLCmedia player and make sure to turn on the deinterlacer.
