I am using a plate amp for the transducers in my riser. Knowing that these can get hot, what is the best and recommended way to install this to a riser/wall? How are others doing this?

Thanks.

Good question and I am getting ready to do this as well with a 240watt amp powering 8 bass shakers. After a quick think on it I may go to Radio Shack for what is known as standoffs and use these but am not sure yet.

I never had a problem with heat issues. Of course, I mounted mine directly to the seat frames.

The plate amp or the transducer? Trying to find out how to mount the plate amp.

This (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102848&cp=2032058.2032230.2032272&allCount=10&fbn=Type%2FStandoffs&f=PAD%2FProduct+Type%2FStandoffs&fbc=1&parentPage=family) is what I was thinking.

could you use the standoffs in the opposite way they were intended (for recessing) i.e. in front of the plate amp face plate and behind the mounting plate in the floor? I don't know exactly how they work, just a thought from looking at it.

I was thinking of mounting this to a piece of 1/4" plywood/luan or something similar and using longer screws with the wood.

yes, that is a possibility, however, would the amp get too hot in there and shut off since there will be filled mainly with insulation?

You want to mount it on the outside of the riser due to high heat issues. I am going to mount that 1/4 ply on the vertical face of my riser so the heat rises and the standoffs will prevent the carpet from catching fire...

Yes, I think that would be the best option.

Do you have an equipment room? can you run the transducer wires from the room to your riser?

Honestly a plate amp would add too much heat to an already warm area. Placing this behind the seats of the front row on the riser is the way to go IMO.

Unless his equipment room has proper ventilation.....
