I am trying to find an ideal spot for the sound system, Direct TV receiver, etc.

My options are:

#1 under the screen in the front of the room. Bad thing is the lights and crap my be annoying. But it will make channel changing easier.

#2 on the side but about 4 feet behind the seating area and to the right. I would have to turn around to change channels or volume. But all this crap would not be in view.

Another thing is if i eventually add a PS# how would it be played if the stuff it hooks up to is behind me?

I Want to build an in wall cubby for my components and need to make a decision soon..

thanks!

I vote for #2 and pick up an RF remote. PS3 remote is BT so it doesn't matter if it's behind you or not.

Wow, yes an RF remote would do the trick. I was wondering how everyone did that..lol. Sorry for asking newb questions.

Can the RF remote control more than one thing?

Rf's can control just about anything. Check out Pronto or Harmony. Both good brands. You might also consider an IR repeating system like Xantech. You can then put the eq anyplace and just use a sensor on the front wall.

I'd still recommend investing in an actual RF remote. I used one of the add on IR to RF systems and decided to go with an actual RF remote for not a whole lot more. The problem with the former is, when running macro's it wouldn't always pick up all the commands. With my RF it doesn't matter which direction it's facing, when I hit the macro, everything works as it should. JMTC.

I am planning on putting all my equipment in a rack behind me and facing the side, that way I don't have to worry about extra light source distracting my eyes from whats on screen. As others have said, gonna use an RF remote with IR repeater so I don't have to worry about pointing anywhere.
