View Full Version : Whats the best HDTV LCD or Plasma TV for 800 or less?? dipset121 02-11-08, 01:23 PM Please help me out thats my budget limit I can't go any higher and I don't want anything smaller than a 37 inch. Any Help would be appreciated. derek533 02-11-08, 06:10 PM If the absolute top is $800, check out the Insignia 42" plasma set available at Best Buy. Insignia is BB's own house brand but it is made by LG (even says so on the box). I had one for a couple of weeks and if it wasn't for the fact that my particular set had a very discernible buzz (more so than normal for plasmas), I would still have it. I returned it and spent a little more to get the Panny 42" 75U. to this day however, I was and still am, amazed at the picture quality it produced for the relatively low price point. The only downside may be after the warranty expires. I would probably advise against getting an LCD however. At the price you are willing to spend, there are only a handful of options that exist with your size requirements and those that do fit, have the typical LCD issues (bad blacks, motion blur, bluish whites, etc.). If there's any way to stretch your budget by about $100, then you may be able to get either a Sammy 4254 plasma or a Panny 42PX75U plasma. Both of those have been on sale recently for as little as $100 over your budget and are both highly regarded in this forum (I have the Panny and love it). murphyjp 02-11-08, 07:27 PM I would not touch Insignia. I've never seen one at BB that did not have a dead pixel. I'd suggest you save a bit more and move into a mainstream brand. Look at Costco or Sams club. iamian 02-11-08, 11:33 PM nm (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=167454&t=742757) |
