Hello. I am in the process of framing my HT room and have decided to hide the front speakers, but am not sure what I need to do as far as framing and the finishing look. I want to have access to the speakers as well. I'm not sure if I should make a door or panel to access to the speakers. If any one has pics it sure would help. I would like the framing and the finished pics but also the pics showing how the panel or door is attached to the framing or whatever.

Thanks, Drew

Thanks, BIGmouthinDC that is exactly what I am looking for. Did you consider using the type of plugs? that they use for speaker grills? I would like to make something with inside hinges like kitchen cabinets if possible. Everyone is going to want to see what is behind the wall the first time and I think that velcro may not hold up so well. What are your thoughts? Thanks again.

Drew

The velcro holds up really well. When i did mine I not only glued the velcro on, but stapled it to each side as well. Worked great and no speakers!

Here is what I did in my theater. I used grill plugs & black grill cloth from Parts Express for all the speaker grills I constructed.

Thanks,
Matt

I considered the plugs and Velcro. The top and the sides have no fasteners at all, I put a few dabs of Velcro on the bottom piece but it really didn't need it.

Basically if you make them the right size you can friction fit them into place. The top piece sits on the screen frame, the others on the carpet. They are snug and just stay where I put them.

If they start to move I just point my finger and give them a look and they straighten up. OK, maybe that's the dog.

Drew,
So glad you asked this question. I was just planning on building a full wall with a really big window for an AT screen. You and the people responding just save me a lot of work

Thank you guys for your answers, one more reason why I love these forums.
