The studio has now revealed even more of its next-gen plans to the folks over at The Digital Bits, highlighted by an initiative to release all future high-profile catalog special edition titles on both DVD and Blu-ray simultaneously.

I wonder how much it bothers Peter M. Bracke that Digital Bits gets the exclusive from Warner. Must chap his hide. :D

Runtime: 171 min / USA:188 min (original pre-aired NBC version)

Lossless audio a must for this title considering the sonic range of the climax shoot-out scenes.

A quick something to keep me tided over till release... since it's probably my favorite film. Anyways, its kind of a hack job due to lack of HQ artwork/images and my laziness in editing.. hopefully I can find some better images for the actual release.

This has gotta be one of the best movies of all time imo. I have probably owned this in every format possible, VHS, Laserdisc whihc was DD, Both DVD versions, and now Blu-Ray!!

Man I cant wait for this, I hope its realeased in the spring and not the fall but there have been no specifics yet on a release date just 2008.

Best line, Pacino says to Ashley Judd, " Clean up go home"

i highly recommend it, the sound is great obviously but what i really love is the dynamic between pacino and deniro. among the many great scenes in any moving the diner scenes rates up there as one of my favorite all time. i just really liked the characters so much i wanted it to end differently not to give anything away for those who haven't seen it. however, even with that said it is still a great movie and the ending is still great.

UxiSXRD
02-13-08, 04:24 PM
I still think it might have been better with the roles reversed (Pacino as the bad guy and Deniro as the cop) but it still worked out great and one of the best gunfight scenes ever. I dream of a 7.1 PCM track for that shootout in front of the bank.

I own the laserdisc version, you can almost feel the bullets.

The audio on the laserdisc is outstanding, and I don't mean the gunshots, which can be adequately reproduced using just DD. It is the quality of the snipets of music that makes it so special, and which sounds so hollow on the DVD.

Wow!!! I'm actually shocked by the amount of fans waiting for this movie to come out on Blu-ray fully remastered with lossless audio. I thought I was the only one!!

Next to the street shootout, I think the diner scene between Pacino and De Niro is the best 5 mins of film ever!!!!!! It's unfortunate that it was only around 5 mins.

However, in their new movie coming out this year, Righteous Kill, they practically share the screen for the duration of the movie! Hopefully Jon Avnet doesn't butcher it as I'm highly anticipating this movie based off of that one scene in Heat...

I agree, excellent scene. Good editing, Deniro and Pacino never shares the same frame in the entire movie. It is always the back of a head, or a reflection in a car window.

i mean you know you're going to get a little of that, but i can't do without it bc it would ruin 2 of my favorite scenes

"Cause she's got a great ass... and you got your head all the way up it! Ferocious, aren't I? When I think of asses, a woman's ass, something comes out of me."

and of course

"You can lounge around here on her sofa, in her ex-husband's dead-tech, post-modernistic bs house if you want to. But you do not get to watch my f***** television set!"

Easily Michael Mann's best. a real classic. Some corniness here and there: Pacino: "Well I'm Donald Duck!" as he slams the desk, and Ashley Judd is kind of lackluster in one of her earliest roles. Otherwise a great flick.

They wanted Al Pacino play as he was high on cocaine all the time , as it was the reason why he had the "energy" to keep going.
