I'm trying to find the best solution for upscale SD sources.
Specially for DVD.

I got a JVC DLA-RS1 with HTPC and BD/HD-DVD players.

I'm a little tired of the HTPC and its configurations.
I want the easy solution, like you put your disc in the player and press play :)

Here a bunch of ideas :

1/ Toshiba HD-XA2 (Realta)

2/ Denon 3930 (Realta)

3/ BD Player Samsung 1400 with scaler like DVDO VP50 pro

The idea of the Toshiba is because, its price is cheap.
I own some HD-DVD, but you know, I'm hesitating because HD-DVD is not in good position today...

Or the Denon 3930, dedicated to DVD, with the same chip (if i'm not wrong).
But this one is more expensive.

And finaly, the BD player.
I'm going to buy this one because i'm located in France and this is the only one available how it can handle DTS MA in bitstream.
So maybe this player is enough and I put a scaler behind it ?

Last thing, in case of a scaler, I need a model that can handle audio HD.
There was only one that I know, it's the DVDO VP50 pro with firmware 1.03

Any suggestions or others ideas ? ;)

Thanks !

Lumagen processors have the best scaling available in the industry if that's what you're after.

Yes that's exactly what I am looking for.

So the Lumagen Radiance XD should be the best ?
But it seems to don't have HDMI 1.3, no audio HD ?

The Radiance with HDMI 1.1 will work just fine in your system. You can decode the HD Audio in the video source and pass up to 8 channel PCM audio through the Radiance. This is essentially what is done for video. For example, you don't send MPEG4 to your display. We are also planning to add virtual HDMI inputs to the Radiance. This will make it very convenient to connect a receiver with multiple HDMI inputs in front of the Radiance. Either way you will have good support for HD Audio in your system.
