I was looking to purchase the Sony 40" Bravia XBR4 or Samsung TN4071 along with a Blue Ray Player (maybe Sony BP-S500) and wanted to know a couple of things:

Firstly I was also going to buy a Denon 2308ci A/V reciever to replace the old Denon AVR-3200 I currently have. My question is: Do I really need to?

The AVR 3200 has been fantastic to me down the years yet it does not have HDMI. I only have the 5.1 set-up and am not considering going to 7.1 just yet. So, can I just feed the audio from the Blue Ray player (and I guess a new HD/DVR from DirecTv) directly into the current receiver and just use 5.1? I guess I won't be utilising the "True HD" but will the audio be worse/better than I've been used to.

I am new to AVS and a bit of a novice, so any help anybody can give me would be appreciated!

Secondly, I currently have a Pioneer Elite 51" PRO-99 TV (~1996) that I would like to "dispose" of but not sure how to sell it and if anybody would really be interested in buying it!

Looking forward to any/all responses!

Thanks again

If you get a proper BD or HD-DVD player, you can hear the PCM and TrueHD tracks over the analogs 5.1. The DTS core of DTS-HD MA tracks will also be decoded through the analogs. Such a player would be the Pioneer 95. You might want to wait for the upcoming Panny BD-50 to come out. I would not buy a Sony stand-alone player.
