I recently bought the connect gear 2x1 splitter to split my cable signal between the Iscan VP50 and a 23" lcd. When I have both outputs connected I get no sound from either output. If I disconnect one of those outputs I will get sound and it doesn't matter if it's output 1 or 2. Anyone else using this splitter or does anyone have any ideas?

Try switching positions. I used to use a couple of those splitters and they were great. But It would only work properly if the components were in specific outputs while the other way wouldn't work properly like you describe.
Although I do remember the very first one I bought, when they were first released did have problems, but Connectgear quickly replaced it under warranty.
