My girlfriend really wants me to pick this up for her..but at damn near 30 bucks im hesitant. Anyone else buy this? Is it worth a buy for a girl who loves dramas/love stories/chick flicks. I had no hesitation in buying her Devil Wears Prada (hey, i liked this one too), Enchanted, and a few other romantic comedies.
So, is this one worth it? She hasn't seen it yet and neither have I.. plus, no review on HDD. The only one i could find was on this site dvdtalk... and i would much rather have your guys/gals reviews on the pq/aq and most importantly the movie itself. Thanks in advance.
nevermind... just saw the review on HDD.. would still appreciate your user reviews though as i am undecided.

I saw it theatrically and really liked it. I am getting it on Blu-ray.
It is not a film that absolutely requires high-definition--in most people's appraisal--but I can no longer watch standard definition anything.
[Warning: I like "finely crafted" movies and even some "chick-flicks". My favorite film of the year is "Atonement". :)]

It's a bit dull and nothing special picture or audio.
Why not just buy her the normal DVD

The PQ is spectacular on BD, and it is a very well made movie. McAvoy is excellent, and Hathaway is better than she usually is.
I was impressed with the quality of the disc. Colors were vibrant and sharp. The movie itself, not so much. My wife, who's a huge Jane Austen fan, didn't vibe with it. The film didn't have the playful nature of an Austen story, and my wife was quite frankly turned off by the sexuality of it. To her, Austen was never about sex, but rather just love -- if that makes sense. Although it was PG, it was just too 'dirty' for Austen.
I watched this one today. Both my wife and I thought it was ordinary. The production values were not as high as other films of this genre.
The performances of the young actors were uninspiring. On the other hand, the brief moments with veterans Ian Richardson, Maggie Smith, and Julie Waters were several cuts above the rest in quality.
My girlfriend really wants me to pick this up for her....
Riiiiiiiiiiiight. ;)
