OK guys, I'm seriously looking at just buying a VP20 to play with on my Plasma in the bedroom to get my feet whett at this stuff.

My challenge is that all of the newer devices apparently only output into a digital input??? My older Pioneer plasma (4300) has a GREAT picture but unfortunately only handles component or RGBHV inputs via BNCs. I have cables now out from an AA 1154A running component but can run it either way. I'll source most everything in via HDMI but I HAVE to go out to component HD or RGB HD. There has to be an answer. What is it?

Thanks,
bob

You'll have to step up to the VP30 (or above) to get component out.

OK thanks. I see that now. I'm still back to the same old problem about getting stereo analog out too.

For the life of me, I can't see how these things help/SIMPLIFY anything. :(

I guess I just don't get it. Looks like I can get a Cadillac but not with any Chevy compatability. I thought that was the purpose of these things.

Does anybody make a video processor for the real world?

There is a solution that will allow you to convert digital audio to analog audio for the TV but it will not help with multiple analog audio inputs (http://www.gefen.com/gefentv/audio.jsp).

The typical customer that uses a video processor also has an AV receiver that they use for sound. This is why most video processors do not support analog audio as an output (although there may be analog audio inputs). Further. most have stopped supporting analog video outputs. The best solution for you in the long term is to look for a display to replace your Pioneer that has an HDMI input so that you can transmit audio and video from all of your sources (through a connected video processor) to your display.

Thanks Josh I understand what you're saying.

I have 7 HD display devices in my home, from an Epson Pro 1080UB in the theater/living room, to the older Pioneer in the bedroom. I just wanted to tinker with the older one to learn on. Most all the others have HDMI so they're no problem.

Thanks for the link. Those two devices should work nicely for my testing model.
