I was going to wait for the Panasonic HDC-SD9 but with Amazon having it at $599 I might have to pull the trigger. Yesterday it was at $644.99. Am I crazy? Should I wait? Sorry, hehe.

I just pulled the trigger through Amazon. Bought the HG10 from Tigerdirect($0 S/H), a case from Amazon, plus a 3 pc filter set from one of Amazon's sellers. I also bought a CD to get over the $25 threshold for free S/H from Amazon. Total: $658.39.

Wotta deal! Thanks to letstub for posting this!

It’s a good deal but you’re basically buying from a third party. With the new camcorders coming out, it’s expected that the prices will drop dramatically.

If I had the money to buy a camcorder, I would definitely wait because I feel that the new AVCHD camcorders are so much better but at least if you do end up picking the HG10 you’d be getting a camcorder that has a viewfinder.

TigerDirect is an established company.

I really wanted a flash based camcorder, but the ones coming from Canon will actually have less desirable features. After the warranty ends on the HG10, I will probably attempt an SSD replacement of the HDD as discussed in another thread. I am certain that someone will have done it by then. At that point, I will have the best of both worlds.

I can fully understand wanting the HG10 because of the viewfinder but is their anything else for you to say that? And is it as important as shooting in 1920x1080 60i at 17Mbps or the added bonus of 30p.

The viewfinder is huge for me.

The HG10 has a larger sensor and a standard accessory shoe terminal. Many accessories are already available for the HG10.

My HG10 arrived via UPS today. I used my the wall charger that came with my Canon S50 digital camera to charge the battery. It took less than two hours to fully charge. Everything looks great so far. I also received a new MP3 player today, so I am playing around with that now. I can't handle more than one new toy at a time. I will play with my HG10 later this week and report back.
