In my family room I have a DirecTV HR21 connected to Mitsubishi 65". I have a box connected to the HR21 via svideo and component audio that outputs the signal to RG58 coax and then it gets distributed it to two bedrooms and my kitchen. I currently have the HR21 RF remote, but now my kids want to be able to have their own remote to control their tv's and to change the channel on the HR21 (understanding that they all have to watch the same thing). In the past with DirecTivo I had some RCA pyramids that worked ok about 50% of the time.
What are the recommendations for this setup? I would like to have a Logitech 890 Pro in the family room but don't know what or how to control from the other rooms.

If I get a Harmony 890 Pro for the family room, what kind of remote should I get for the bedrooms? Can the rf module with the 890 Pro receive rf signals from other rf remotes?

With hr21 set to RF mode, the only remotes that will ever control it are the white directv remotes. If you want to use a harmony, the receiver will have to be set for IR mode. If you want use the 890, the kids would have to have the 890 to control the receiver from the other room, leaving you to use any IR remote with preset code. Unless you're getting multiple 890's.
Just add more directv RF remotes for the other rooms.
