Ok, I'm seeing some strange behavior controlling my Dish Network Vip622 DVR.
My set-up: 37" LCD TV, Vip622 DVR, Phillips DVD player, Monoprice HDMI switch. All components are in a closed closet on the other side of the room (except the TV, of course)
I'm controlling the components with a Harmony 880 through the following Xantech setup:
490-85 LCD/CFL proof receiver, thru 25ft stereo cable to CB12 connecting block, to 380-20 j-box blaster (using 781-RG power supply).
Controlling the DVD player and HDMI switch works great, even if the Harmony isn't pointed directly at the IR receiver...I can point the remote very far off-axis before I see any problems with these components.
However, the Vip622 is a different story. It controls well if I have the remote pointed perfectly on-axis with the IR receiver. It controls well if I point the remote about 30degrees away from the receiver. But if I point the remote roughly 20 degrees off-axis, or more than 30 degrees off-axis the Vip622 starts missing commands (even though the IR reciever LED is indicating it is receiving IR commands).
I've tried the J-box blaster with and without the IR attenuator disks, with and without the jumper installed, tried adjusting the frequency of the IR receiver, tried adding an additional IR filter lens to the receiver, and tried numerous locations of the j-box blaster relative to the Vip622.
edit: I get the same behavior with the original Vip622 remote, so I don't think it has to do with the Harmony
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Sean
PS: sorry for the long post!
