k, so pretty much im looking for anyone who is using some sort of converter which changes an Analog signal into digital and has an HDMI output

my Receiver the yamaha VX660 cannot send a analog signal through the HDMI cable to my projector, therefor if i hook up my Wii to my receiver all i get is sound, no picture..

So..anyone use any sort of converter like this? recomend me anything? i've seen ones on ebay etc. but i want to know 100% it will work with my Wii, placement isnt that important because I can leave everything behind the receiver and just run the Analog audio plugs into the reciver still.

Any reason why you dont run a Component Video, S-Video or Composite Video signal from the receiver to your Projector in addition to the HDMI cable?

the HDMI cable is fairly thick, it's also 30 feet long, so i'm not sure if it would fit under the moulding or not

so if that was possible though, i could run a SVIDEO to the projector and it could display the analog signal?

if your Yamaha will accept component(480p) in and passthru to HDMI out. then get the component cables for the Wii and change settings to 480p and wide.

im pretty sure it doesnt as i've hooked both a 360 and the Wii using the 480p component and it didnt work, i'll give it 1 more try tommarow and if not i guess i'll have to run another cable :S

Hi Snyperslayer,

These (http://www.lenexpo-electronics.com/HDMI-Converters-p-1-c-365.html?gclid=CMKxr5WyxpECFQHbPAodWhN5CQ) will probably work for you, but may be a bit more expensive than you want.

ok so here's what im thinking, can somone please tell me if this would work:

So i'm going to be using the Component Cables from the Wii Hooked into the receiver, I then will run this cable:

http://monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10235&cs_id=1023501&p_id=2178&seq=1&format=2

from the receiver to the projector, will this work in passing my analog signal?

That will work but you'll need some connectors.

lcd or plasma?

Note that the link is to a cable that also carries audio. You can spend less for a cable without the white and red (RGB only).
It will be worth it once you get this hooked up. The Wii doesn't scale as well as a HD game system, but Wii Sports games on a projector are great.

If your receiver does component video switching then all you need is the wii component video out cable to the receiver and this cable (http://monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10235&cs_id=1023502&p_id=2179&seq=1&format=2) from monoprice from the receiver to the projector. You don't need the 5 core cable as the receiver handles your sound.

If your receiver doesn't do component video switching then you'll need some way to connect the component out cable from the wii to the 50ft cable. Some female to female connectors (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10401&cs_id=1040107&p_id=3002&seq=1&format=2) would work, as would a component video switch box (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10112&cs_id=1011201&p_id=3027&seq=1&format=2) (more expensive but useful if you have more than one component video source). I couldn't find any information about a "yamaha VX660" if you meant the RX-V660 (manual here (http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/av/english/re/RX-V660.pdf)) then you will definitely need the connectors or a switch box.

Be aware that these 3 core cables are big - it's like running 3 single core cables side by side. You may find it difficult to hide without a conduit or some drywall work.
