I have a Spyder2 PRO and I was wondering what ICC profile I should start off with when calibrating my display(A LG Flatron L246WPQ-BN 24in LCD).

I am currently useing sRGB, but I was wondering if i would get a greater color range by useing the Adobe RGB(1998) or Adobe Wide Gamut RGB ICC Profiles?

Sorry if I sound stupid for asking this, but Its always better to ask questions then to keep your mouth shut right?

-Quad :)

(Edit: At the time I was actually wondering if the profile you had applied at the start had any effect on the end results of the calibration. I guess I didn't explain myself well enough. Reading this years later, and dam I sounded like a idiot.)

You are aware that Spyder2 PRO is a product for calibrating your computer to compensate for the display? If you want to calibrate the actual display so that other sources than computer will be correct - you need Spyder2 TV PRO.

sRGB gamut is identical to REC709 gamut for HDTV. Or are you trying to calibrate for photoshop work - and is your monitor Adobe RGB qualified? You don't need the wider range for TV - and you won't get the wider range for photos if your display can't do it.

I have a HTPC, PS3, DVD player, and a Cable box hooked up to my projector if I use the spyder2 and my HTPC to run that software or the ColorHCFR free software, why would I need the PRO version? What would that give me that I couldn't do with the free ColorHCFR?

Create an ICC/ICM compliant monior profile. That's what the Spyder2 series is actually designed to do.
