ok its out of the box and set up .. played some of the test disc.. and OMG ! i dont think i have heard bass like this in a long long time...

do have one problem.. i let the test disc play through to track 9 had it kind of turned up 65 on the rotel.. it opens at 16hz.. i felt a big rumble and POW everything went off...LOL

probably spending the next few days tightening , felt taping and moving things lol

what size room do you have, and did it blow up?

DUlrich1227

no nothing blew .. i have it plugged into a panamax but everything went off at the same time so i think the sub amp was pulling to much ?? not sure but nothing is broke..

I am playing some standard music now (raggae and some rock ) with the ports open and set to max out it sounded a little boomy so i plugged it bac kup and switched the switch back up .. the seating area is about 14x14 but it opens up to a eating area and than kitchen of to the back

What would you say that your entire space is, mine is 4480 cubic feet, and the VTF-2 MK3 was my first choice.

not to sure on the exact math for cubic feet but

the ceiling is @ 8'8"

front wall to the back wall is @25' long x 14'wide the last 9' opens up to a kitchen so its not exactly a closed room or "optimal setting" but this thing sounds awesome i am way impressed so far... trying to figure out the cross over stuff now though i ahve it sett to 80 not sure if should bump it up to 100 (via the rotel)

i can probably post a pick if you need me to?

Minus the kitchen area, you are looking at 3080 cubic feet.

Please post a picture.

That looks to be about the same size as my room.

And the VTF-2.3 fills it up with rumbling bass? Can you feel the bass?

Post a pic of the sub please.

when i was running through the test disc YES you could feel it until i hit the 16hz for a long period and things shut down... I could feel everything in the room rumble - vibrate when it was hitting low..

100Hz would be way too high for those speakers. I don't know the -3db point off hand, but I guarantee you it's lower than 100Hz. 80Hz (or lower) will probably be ideal. If the Rotel doesn't have some sort of room calibration and you don't already have one, make sure to pick up an SPL meter from Radio Shack. Mandatory equipment...

And for the love of all things holy...find a way to lower than center channel...

Is this demo disc a CD or a DVD? Anyone know where it might be being hosted? ;)

OT: My goodness that center channel is 50 feet in the air. I wonder if you might get better sound not running a center channel at all?

It's one of the test CDs from the Boston Audio Society. I don't know if HSU has updated it recently or not, but HERE's (http://forum.hsuresearch.com/showthread.php?t=4638&highlight=bas+cd) a list of tracks on the one that I have. Hint, hint...

I was thinking the same thing. Is there any way you could lower the center speaker to below the TV and move some of the other components? With the center that high, I honestly think you'll be better off running your system with no center speaker.

For the love of all things holy, why on earth do people still call a "center speaker" a "center channel" ? Christ. ;)

its actually angled downward and the couch is far enough back where it sounds really good.. but i have been contemplating customizing the shelf area above the TV a bit.. just need the wife to go out of town for 2 days so i can chop it up :)

Sorry. Pardon my audio slang--it didn't mean for it to be taken so literally.

I assumed "speaker" was implied...as in "for the love of all things holy, lower (the height of) that center channel speaker".

No problem. Even if you weren't, it's no big deal. I have a million pet peeves that I have to fight the urge to respond to...

Most definitely needs to be tilted down. WAY DOWN! And pull it all the way to the front edge of the top of the bookshelf. I'd even try to set it up with as much of it as possible overhanging the top. The way it's set up now must produce terrible reflections off the ceiling.

I just bought the VTF-3 MK3 this morning. My room is quite larger than yours (4480 cubic ft) and opens up to the kitchen. I hope I enjoy it as much as you are. Cheers.

your speakers should be able to take a 60hz crossover. They dig into the 40hz range pretty decently. And I will join everybody else and saying your center channel speaker is way too high! :)

Nice sub, did you just have to reset your circuit breaker?
