I have been lurking awhile to figure out what sub to get for my ok HT/music system, which currently consists of an H/K AVR 347 pushing a pair of older Paradigm 5SE MkII fronts and the surrounds are part of a scrapped HTiB.

So based on my ~2000cuft room, 60/40 movie/music preference, and the desire for clean, accurate bass, I am leaning towards the HSU 2-mk3...

my only hesitation is what I get for my money....the money isnt an issue, but considering I am not an audio guru or anything, will I actually notice, and enjoy the $550 HSU vs something CircuitSchitty has to offer for $200?

Yes, you will notice and enjoy the HSU sub, definitely do not get a $200 CC sub. Also, if you haven't, take a browse over to the Craigsub Subwoofer Thread, it will open up your mind to many other capable subs in your price range as well.

$200 spent on any sub at CC is a waste, whereas $550 spent on a Hsu or other of the truly performing internet direct brand subs is an audio investment.

... ok, it's still a depreciating asset, but you get the point. :p

I think difference is you'll hear $200 worth of bass in a CC sub. You'll feel $550 worth of bass in a Hsu (or one of its ilk). $550 gets you a really, really nice sub, especially from an internet direct company. If I had the option, I'd just spend $100 or less, or $500 or more. In between I think is a waste of money.

Got mine about a month ago! My first sub in a 3600 cu ft room. This is a great choice. Try Finding Nemo where Darla taps the aquarium. Enjoy!!!!!!:):):):)
