Okay, the guy shows up and he is about 20. Nice kid, said he had two years of experience and is ISF Certified.

He plugged his sencore into my set and set up his laptop. He went through some test patterns for what looked like brightness and contrast.

Next he put on a white box on the screen and hooked up a sensor. He had the sensor on the box for about an hour, trying to get the cut right. He had some trouble at first because the different IRE levels were intereacting with the color. Eventually he was able to get it to where he wanted it.

Next he went out of the service menue and used the regular menu to further adjust the brightness and the contrast. He then repeated the same step for my second input. This did not take nearly as much time.

I will post the results when he emails it to me. The print out states my post calibration gamma at 2.12 My Pre cal color ranged from a low of 7900K to a high of 8150K. My Post Cal ranges from 6360K to 6600K.

We did notice some video noise after his calibration that wasn't there as much before. However we were 2 feet away from the screen. At my normal seating position of 13' it is not noticible.

I then put on Star Wars 3 and ran through the THX test menu with him there and it all looked good. I didn't have a lot of time to watch anything as I had to get back to the office. I did notice that my whites looked a lot more pure.

I can't post the results because my name and address is on it. Sorry!

$350. I can't wait to get home and actually watch it tonight. Lost and (I feel so gay) American Idol tonight should do a good job of seeing the merits of ISF calibration.

The real test will be if the wife notices the ISF calibration tonight. I didn't tell I had it done, so it will be interesting.

Didn't you change your name to Erictheactor? LOL, I assume it is in reference to Ericthemidget on Howard Stern?

p.s. I'd bet she doesn't notice...most woman don't get into that kind of tweaky stuff.

I am no expert, but if he adjusted the grayscale, and then touched the brightness and contrast, ----he has then just misaligned the grayscale.
Once grayscale is set, adjusting the brightness and contrast will throw off grayscale significantly.

Gamma of 2.12 is too low...should be in the order of 2.2...with respect to tweaking brightness and contrast and after grayscale...not a particularly good idea unless after so doing one revisits BOTH gamma and grayscale...

the 2.12 was an average. It ranged upto 2.24
