Hello gentlemen,
I'm a French audio&video enthusiast and this is my first post on AVS Forum.

I'd like to share with you an incredible performance from an "electronics-reviewer" of France 2 - French state TV.

For those who read French : look at this : telematin.france2.fr/telematin-vod.php from 1h47'.

But of course, this amazing ludicrous moment needs to be translated :

- The host -- "Tomorrow's DVD : Blu-ray.
[...]
- The reviewer -- For once, all the electronics manufacturers have pulled together to design Blu-ray.
[...]
- The reviewer -- Primarily, the concept of Blu-ray is to shoot films on Blu-ray (yes, he does say that Blu-ray is a way to shoot movies) and the director can provide his commentary that you can watch along with the film.
- The host -- Hmmm, yes...
- The reviewer -- Something else : With incoming new Blu-ray releases, you shall use the Internet to get new things from the Internet when you watch the film (at this stage, he still hasn't said a single word about BD's audio and video properties... )
[...]
- The reviewer -- Another thing : you know that films are shot at 24 FPS. And you also know that on DVD and TV, it's not the same thing : you lose 4 or 5 %.
- The host -- So, you lose images ?
- The reviewer -- Sure. And thanks to the Blu-ray, you find your 24 FPS back.
- The host -- So, we're gonna be equipped with digital stuff and Blu-ray : that's impressive ! But everything isn't on Blu-ray yet ?
- The reviewer -- You got that right ! For now, about 40 films have been shot on Blu-ray.
- The host -- But is it possible to make old films come to Blu-ray ?
- The reviewer -- Mmmh, yes, I think so, it's been already done with DVD. But with the new films - shot on Blu-ray - you will get a better image and sound quality.

:p

Obviously "the reviewer" knows nothing about HD or Blu-Ray! This reminds me of the electronics expert for a newspaper who bought a dvd player when dvd was new and then complained that it did not look any better than video tape. Of course the expert had hooked the dvd player to a vcr and was sending the signal through the vcr to the tv.

Hmm... seems wrong that this guy is on TV when he doesn't even seem bright enough to be watching it.

Haha funny! I love when he's describing the Standalone players and saying: Not all of them are burners, some are simple players! LOL

Dude, I knew I had misplaced my 24 FPS somewhere!

Over there he's probably JBW -- Jean Boxed Wine.

Unfortunately it doesn't sound much different than what I'd expect to hear on a show like Regis or The View if they should ever talk about BD.

Jean Bordeaux perhaps, oui...?

CNN was on about Blu and HD-DVD yesterday. It was only slightly more illuminating than France 2. They called HD-DVD a "digital dinosaur". What's that make Blu, a digital, mammalian egg snatching format....?
