i have been using Saphire Browser for a little while now, and am loving it more and more as they refine some bugs. However one thing i can not get to work (yet everyone else says its fine) is the xml data change.

according to the manual, you can put an xml document in the same folder as the media file, and it will override the metadata for that given file.

i have followed the instructions and placed a "12 Monkeys.xml" file in with my "12 Monkeys.mkv" file.

The xml file states the following:

<media>
<title>12 Monkeys</title>
</media>

however no matter what I seem to do, the file still appears in the browser as "Twelve Monkeys" which is the title from IMDB.

Can someone help me resolve this issue, as it is the last remaining bug for me, and i have a bunch of files I want to alter the titles for.

Did you save the file as a plain text file? And then run the import tool? If so, and it still doesn't work, you might file a bug report.

i filed a bug report...and they labeled it as "worksforme" and i have not received any further help on the matter.

see the link for some background on the matter

http://appletv.nanopi.net/trac/ticket/116

...but basically:

i have tried using Word 2008 (save as xml file), TextEdit (RichText Document saved as Word 2003 xml document), and TextEdit (PlainText Document in unicode (utf-8), then change file extension from txt to xml).

i have tried running the importer after adding the file, and no change.
i have tried clearing the metadata from within the browser, and then importing and still no change.
i have also erased all elements of the file in moviedata.plist and metadata.plist before running the importer and still no change.

i resolved this.

it turns out that i was saving incorrectly with textedit.
for some reason, the word 2008 was not able to save an xml file that would work.

...to get the TextEdit version to work, you need to save as a plain text document with unicode (UT-8) and save with extension .xml. You can not save as .txt, and then change the extension in finder either, it must be saved with .xml. in addition, you can not save as rich text xml document, as this wont work either.

i have requested the manual be updated to be more specific on instructions...but if anyone else has these issues at least they can read this thread :)

Has anyone gotten Sapphire to pickup video_ts folders? Mine will only show them via the shares window which operates identical to FrontRow, I can not get it to import them into the Sapphire structure, it only seemed to pick up the .mkv files. any ideas?

Beta 5 didn't work for me.

Beta 5 didn't work for me.

I've gotten Video_TS to work with Sapphire beta 5. The problem is that it still crashes too often. I've put of working with it until it gets more stable. XBMC for Mac may end up filling the void though. Othewise I still use xHub as my primary frontend.
