I have heard that it doesn't matter where subs are since sonically they are difficult to locate. However, I wanted to ask for opinions if would be ok to put a sub in the back right corner of my room. The room is 25(L)x19(w) and the TV is at the front of the room. The couch is 15 feet away from the TV, so if the sub was in the back right corner it would be about 10 feet away from the listening position. Would this be okay? Also, I would need about 30 feet of wiring, would this cause any signal degradation over this length?

Thanks,

Brad

You can definitely start there, no issues with the cable. Generally, if possible, one starts by putting the sub where you view, then "crawl for bass", run sweep of freq., this way you try for a smooth response w/ least dips and highs as possible. When not possible due to room furnishings, then generally, in the front by the front speakers, near corners, by the couch (nearfield), those are the basic placements to start off, etc.

I had joked about this before in anohter thread that hanging sub on the ceiling. It's not practical, though. But I never read anybody did that test or any theory rejecting that idea.
