Anyone use the Dolphin Waterproof remote? I need a simple remote that can control a basic system from a hot tub. I need a few learned functions but it is not clear which buttons on the remote are learning? Are all the buttons learning? Or are there only a few learning buttons?

Thanks,
Bryan

Looks like the OEM for that remote is UEI, if it is like to other remotes from them, you should be able to use any buttons for learning, except for the device keys and SETUP. The manual (http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/files/dl.cgi?file=others/balboa/dolphin2-manual.zip&area=other) says also buttons for spa functions can't be programmed with learned signals.

It may even be PC programmable using JP1 cable (http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1009), although the support they have currently might be an older version of the remote.

Thanks Kupakai,

I saw the note in the manual but it wasnt totally explicit about the learnable buttons. I want to make sure I can learn the VOl+ and Vol- as the remote wont be controlling volume thru a standard receiver rather a Xantech amp. How do you determine that it is OEM'd thru UEI?

The setup codes sets are generally unique to each manufacturer. I skimmed through the setup codes in the manual and they match the standard UEI setup codes and the programming methods are the same. Plus, at least a version of the Dolphin remote (maybe not current one) is supported by JP1 cable and software (all JP1 remotes are made by UEI).
