I have noticed a distracting "rattle" type sound that is coming from my 2 Buttkickers that are mounted to a mini riser under my couch. This rattle was definately not there before and I am guessing I have just overdriven them and they have become damaged. The rattling occurs about 1/2 the time I get BK action from LFE sent to them. I have only had these for 3 months and it is looking like I will have to replace them and turn them down a bit which I dont realy want to do as the sensation is perfect right now. I am using the BK amp as well.
Has anyone else had this happen?

I use a Buttkicker Gamer and have to adjust the gain frequently depending on what's playing to prevent the knocking sound when the pistons bottom out from being driven too hard.
Not sure if that's the problem you're experiencing though.

Buy a 3rd or 4th one then turn them down and you will still have your "sensation"

I allready tried this by adding 2 as I had only 1 originaly. I still had to turn 2 up to the same level as 1 to get the same affect. They were co-located though so maybe I would have better luck seperating them on the 4x8 mini riser?

I think what I am getting is a result of to many knocks as I know what you are talking about and this is different. This is a buzzing/rattling type sound.

First isolate the buttkicker that is causing the buzz. If both are making the same sound turning them down should correct the problem.
If the problem still exist contact Guitammer they are very helpful.

It is both of them. I tested them by themselves and it is both of them that are doing it. I will give BK a call today.

Toe, any info from Buttkicker? Interested on the findings.

Had a nice long talk with Martin yesterday. What a nice guy. Long story short, they are sending me out one replacement to test out and see if it is indeed the BK that has become defective. After going through a bunch of possible scenarios about what could be causing the issue, he thought it may be the motor had partly come loose.
I will report back when I get the new unit and do my tests:)
Got the new BK put in and problem solved. I have had this happen to 3 buttkickers now and there must be something that just gets loose over time with these units that causes what I was hearing. I guess they just need to be replaced on occasion if you dont want this rattle type sound.
