Hi all, I would appreciate some recommendations for a receiver to control the following equipment
Speakers: athena ls-500b towers, ls-c100 centre channel, ls-100b bookshelfs, as-p4100 sub.
Inputs: PS3, cable tv
Output: Panasonic 42px77
When I bought the package I chose a Denon 688 receiver because it was on promotion for 399 CAD and I thought it would suffice with my budget. However, I've been tearing my hair out the past 2 days because I can't get everything to work at once. I've had a gamut of problems from getting static out of the left front speaker in all audio modes except for 'direct', and having problems getting sound from the subwoofer. The most infuriating part to me is that each problem will go away intermittently seemingly without me doing anything to it. All in all, even if I was able to fix these problems, this receiver seems to be too complicated for me. The manual is not much help either.
I am very capable of plugging things into where they need to go, telling the machine what sources are going into which inputs, and pushing a button to auto-calibrate the speakers. After that, all I really want to have to do is push a single button to select a source. Can anyone suggest a different receiver at a similar pricepoint and is user friendly? Perhaps something from HK, Sony, Pioneer or Yamaha?
