Has anyone been able to use their PS3 with the Optoma H31 projector using an HDMI cable? I have a DVI to HDMI convertor on the projector and an HDMI cable going to the PS3 but can't get an image through this connection.

I just bought a PS3, and cannot get it to work via the HDMI connection. The manual says that the Optoma H31 is HDCP compliant. The PS3 works fine via component cable, and my DVD player and Xbox 360 both work fine via HDMI through a Monoprice switch. I am going to call Sony tomorrow and see if they have any thoughts. Your post is from February, are there any developments? Thanks. kawika36 07-01-08, 08:23 AM do you have your ps3 outputting 1080p by any chance? i don't have an H31 but i believe it only accepts up to a 1080i signal. good luck getting it to work :D! noctrine 07-03-08, 10:02 PM I don't think so--I'm assuming the resolution stays the same when you change outputs? I have the PS3 set to 720p, outputting via component, and then I try to switch the output to HDMI. I emailed Sony and they sent me a template "video problems" letter, and a phone number. Will see what they say, though I'm not holding my breath. klover 07-04-08, 10:07 AM I don't think so--I'm assuming the resolution stays the same when you change outputs? MattUNI2001 07-04-08, 11:02 AM I am currently using my Optoma H31 with my PS3 with an HDMI to DVI cable. I just bought the cable a few weeks ago, and it works seemlessly. I didn't have to change any settings on my PS3 to make it work. I simply connected the two devices and pushed DVI on my remote, and there was a huge, clear picture displaying on my screen. gmills1 07-04-08, 04:31 PM I was running my H31 over hdmi for about the last year and a half. Absolutley beautiful picture. I wish I could help by going over settings with you but I took it down just yesterday and relpaced with my new Epson. Sorry I couldnt help but it does work over hdmi glnsagar 12-21-11, 01:59 AM I am currently using my Optoma H31 with my PS3 with an HDMI to DVI cable. Hi MattUNI2001, I know it's been long time since you posted your message but can you provide more details of the cable and the settings that you used to play the video on Optoma H31 from PS3? Thanks, Sagar Rexas 12-22-11, 01:29 PM Hind down the power button on the ps3 for 5 or 10 seconds with the hdmi plugged in. It will start outpouring through hdmi. glnsagar 12-29-11, 06:20 PM I have tried all the usual stuff plus the unusual stuff like switch off the projector and the PS3 and switch them on. None of them helped. I tried a HDMI switch in between... still didn't work. One thing though... With 720P + ps3 power unplug and plug back === Green screen on Optoma H31 With 1080i + ps3 power unplug and plug back === Black screen on Optoma H31 In all other cases the projector indicates "No Signal" |
