I have at leat 50 mini dv tapes, most non-hd. I do have some hd ones since I have the canon hv20.

What I am trying to do is see if i can copy multiple dv tapes to a blu-ray disc. I would think I could put at least 10 of the tapes on each 50gb blu-ray disc.

Is this possible? If so, how do I do it

Thanks

Jim

Thanks for your response. You are right about it holding approximately 2 tapes. The question is how do you copy them over and then make them able to play in the dvd or blu-ray player? When I looked at the file structure of the dvd's after they were initially burned, they were all the same directories. It would seem that they would just right over each other?

Thanks for your assistance.

the vaio laptop has built in software called click to dvd bd it alows tapes [hdv or minidv]to be copied to the drive.my hdv tapes are already edited so after capture they just need splitting up[i leave some black film between different films]after splitting and tittling the blue ray disc can be burnt this is a long 5 hour job on the laptop.of course this is no help to you without a vaio but there are software and burners that can be used with any pc powerful enough its just i find the laptop most convenient.my ps3 plays my bds as good as the hdv tapes in camera.

If you transcode the MiniDVs into MPEG2 at 8Mbs, you get about 1.3 hrs for a 4.7GB file.

That comes to about 7 hrs of movies (or 7 miniDV tapes (60 min tape)) for a 25GB file.

Blu-Ray will play MPEG2.
