View Full Version : Is Obvious Vertical Banding Grounds for Exchange?

Just picked up a BenQ W500 and I'm seeing a lot of vertical banding. A couple posters have reported the same thing, others say they see none. There was no mention of this problem in either of the two commercial reviews.

After reading a good article (http://www.projectorcentral.com/banding_rainbows.htm) on the subject over at projectorcentral, I'm wondering whether I simply got a bad panel.

If so, is that adequate grounds for an exchange?

Any anecdotes or other experience out there to suggest I could have better luck with a replacement PJ of the same model (NewEgg does not allow returns).

Thanks.

YES.......the article talks about a flaw in the MFG process of the panel.........Thats a quality control issue........send it back.:)

Second I own a Benq DLP and they were great standing behind their product so give them, and your dealer a call....... and get the process started.

Absolutely, you didn't spend your money to look at VB. Send it back. If the next one has VB send it back and pick another model or brand of projector.

It's been suggested in the W500 thread that banding is the usually the result of noise in the signal. Guess I'll have to rule that out, first. But I'm seeing it on the splash screen, even before a signal is detected.
