I've recently purchased a new HP dv9700t laptop with a HP Expresscard TV tuner. I was wondering if anyone knows whether there are any problems with recording HD channels from digital cable (I've got Comcast in Evanston, IL). Everything I've read states that the card can recognize analog and digital TV, ATSC over-the-air, and clear QAM. I'm worried that recording HD from cable is going to be difficult or impossible. If you go from a cable-provided STB to the card (or directly into the card) through the coaxial connection, should there be any problems with the card recognizing all the digital cable channels (including HD) and then allowing me to record them? I've never used one of these cards, so I'm rather ignorant on their capabilities. Thanks a lot for any help you can provide.

You should be able to receive the unencrypted (clear) QAM channels from Comcast. These will be a subset of the chanels that you can receive with an antenna using the ATSC OTA tuner. You can also receive any channel you subscribe to through the analog coax output or analog S-video output from your STB ,however, they will only be sent in NTSC ctandard 480i SD resolution.
