Okay, hands up I've been messing about with things I shouldn't.
I was looking at the new Gamut control in the latest firmware and also whilst I had the service menu enabled (menu 0910) I noticed that in OUT:MISC:LEVEL there were two settings PED V and WHT V. Having fiddled with these to see what difference they made I accidentally (well stupidly) selected the "burn" option which saved them. Even after a powerdown the settings stay the same. Like an idiot I didn't note down what they were before I started fiddling.
Can someone tell me what the default "out the box" settings for these are? Or what your settings for these are.
It looks like these might be the answer to a problem I've always had not being able to get output video levels looking quite right (always washed out no matter how I adjusted on the PJ).
