I have a DishNetwork DVR that has about 30 TV shows and movies recorded on the internal disk, but I want to upgrade to the newest DVR. Since they encrypt the video, the only way I can save my shows is by just playing it back and recording the raw video.

This is a Dish 922 DVR with HDMI and component outputs. There's also a USB and network port, but I doubt they're activated.

What is the best way to get this into my MacBookPro? Is there a hardware device? Keep in mind that I want to preserve the high-definition quality of it.

Can the MBP DVI interface take video in? If not, how to capture?

For the future, I'd rather set up a dedicated MythTV machine and use that to control my Dish. What would be the best capture hardware?

Also, anyone know the latest on the TIVO/Dish lawsuit?

I am seeing people alluding to a way of capturing the digital stream from Dish boxen, for example:
If people even want the native digital bitstream from cable or Dish, including HD and with no DRM, that product exists today too.
There are MUCH better ways to copy HD DVD or BD than this (Hauppage)

... but no reference is made to such a product. Anyone know what this is?

Does the Dish 922 have DRM on HDMI enabled? Is there a solution that works with 2 tuner STBs?

Whatever it is, ideally I'd like it to work with MythTV over Linux.

It seems like the Intensity (http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/) would be perfect to record off my Dish box in HDMI. (assuming DRM doesn't stop me) I can't see any problem with the Sage (http://www.sagetv.com/hd_extender.html) or Popcorn (http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore/), either.

Can someone please fill me in?
