I've read so many bad comments about this game but I enjoyed the Demo more than just about anything else out there. I'll probably rent it vs. buy but just wondering if anyone enjoyed it or if it really is a piece.

View Full Version : Did Anyone Enjoy Kane & Lynch? wombats3 02-20-08, 04:22 PM I've read so many bad comments about this game but I enjoyed the Demo more than just about anything else out there. Why does everyone rag on it so much? instantpop 02-20-08, 04:55 PM I would have enjoyed the demo if I would have been able to invert my damn aim. I had a hard time getting a handle on it from there. Most reviews don't actually rag on it too hard. Gametrailers seemed to think it was a decent game. Great story, nice action, etc. I think some of the fundamental problems people couldn't get past were the iffy aim (not always hitting what you were aiming at) and the less than stellar graphical presentation. I still want to play it, just not at $60. Once this thing hits the bargain bin, though, I'll play it just because the story looked so intriguing. number1laing 02-20-08, 04:59 PM Somebody must have. It sold over a million copies. dboss 02-20-08, 05:03 PM I still want to play it, just not at $60. TheCrackedJack 02-20-08, 05:52 PM Nope, it's terrible. It controls like a wet fish on a dock. freestyle 02-20-08, 06:29 PM I've read so many bad comments about this game but I enjoyed the Demo more than just about anything else out there. It feels like it could have been just an average playing and looking title on the PS2 or Xbox. There isn't really any "next-gen" there. However, I did think that online had some potential. The online gamemode was very cool and really interesting in its structure. It also included in-game XMB and access to your friends and messaging. However it did NOT support voice chat online. If you liked the demo you should definitely rent it... I don't think it is a long-term keep though. confidenceman 02-20-08, 11:27 PM Really, it's not a "terrible" game. Everyone just thinks it is because of all the nasty corporate politics surrounding it (i.e., Gerstmann-gate). It's got problems, but it's also got some good points. Good stuff: The characters are fantastic. Voice acting is top-notch. Each level plays like an awesome action movie set-piece. It's also pretty short (~5hrs). Truly, there are some fantastic moments that feel very much like you're playing in a Michael Mann movie. Multiplayer is a good concept. Bad stuff: It looks like crap (barely better than a last-gen game). The controls are pretty sloppy. The camera is perpetually too far over your shoulder so you always feel lopsided (I kept trying to spin the camera around to compensate). Half-assed cover-mechanics. Enemy AI is dumb as rocks. Multiplayer doesn't play out as well as you would hope. It's a solidly average game. It's short enough that you don't lose much by renting it and playing through it once. If you're at all wondering about it, give it a shot. GQman2121 02-21-08, 09:35 AM I picked it up off ebay for $25 beans and haven't touched it yet. The demo left a bad taste in my mouth because of the Y axis. What asshat came up with that idea? Cygnus311 02-21-08, 09:51 AM Eidos doesn't deserve another dime after Gerstmann-gate so no, I refused to even look at it. logicalnoise 02-21-08, 09:56 AM played the demo, after 5 minutes I couldn't stand it. Chako 02-21-08, 12:54 PM I had fun with the game, played co-op with my cousin all the way through. Fragile Alliance is a fun multi-player mode. The controls really didn't bug me, they seemed the exact same as the Hitman games *shrugs* Conspiracy* 02-21-08, 01:30 PM Somebody must have. It sold over a million copies. Of course it was a great idea, the guy made a million dollars... confidenceman 02-21-08, 02:35 PM Eidos doesn't deserve another dime after Gerstmann-gate so no, I refused to even look at it.Can't blame the lion for killing the lion-tamer. This was entirely the fault of CNet and Gamespot management. |
