I am in need of a lcd display which supports 30 bit input via hdmi or dual dvi or displayport. Another thread mentioned a display of a 24 bit versus 30 bit by the hdmi group at CES, but it did not mention the specifics about the components.

Thanks for any assistance.

look for a panel that lists "DeepColor" or xvYCC, but I'd suspect that only "led" or "extended gamut" backlight tv will do anything with those " extra" bits as seen here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XvYCC

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Color

HDMI 1.3 supports 30-bit, 36-bit, and 48-bit color in displays but as far as I know at the time there is no content using these "extended" gamuts cause current media is using 24-bit color so most LCDs are "8bit" internal processing and thats 24-bit color, "10bit" internal processing is 30-bit, "12bit" internal processing is 36-bit, and "16bit" is internal processing 48-bit.

Thanks for the post. From what I have been able to ascertain, the current crop of deep color lcds are just dithering to an 8bit panel. The new dell monitor is not 30 bit. I was curious at to what 30 bit deep monitor was being demoed at the hdmi booth at CES to show off the difference between 30 bit and 24 bit.

There are computer monitors that are using 12bit internal now such as the ones listed here

http://www.eizo.com/

but I haven't heard of any new single displays with anything other than 8bit panels, though there are some 2k and 4k displays that talk of 10bit HD-SDI input, they are caterted towards scientific modeling like 3D geographic surveys or Physics models.

Maybe once DisplayPort is more common we'll see more "consumer" type displays sporting more that bit depth than whats out now

Maybe something along the lines of the LUMA series (http://bssc.sel.sony.com/BroadcastandBusiness/markets/10007/keyproduct_luma.shtml?navid=luma_series_video_monitors)is closer to what you're looking for (not sure though)?

EDIT

After looking closer, maybe not. Although the LMD-2030W says 16,700,000 colors unders its specs in the PDF lineup brochure. I think that's close to 24bits? Not sure if thats the panel, processor, or what though.

EDIT

After looking even closer, it appears the best that line-up offers is 10-bit processing with an 8-bit panel. Oh well.
