Ok, I have absolutely had it with this guy. He's always bitching about something and it's ridiculous to hear his voice anymore.

Great idea. I hardly ever watch ESPN anymore other than PTI and football the station is just to full of themselves for me.

ESPN is what it is. They've found a formula that works. All the Chris Berman haters need to get over it - he's not going anywhere. And, he's very good at moderating an opinionated panel, as on NFL Countdown. That's a far more difficult job than he makes it look. And, he's a darn good baseball play-by-play guy as well. Give the guy his due.

Now, as to Stephen A., well, he is what he is too. ;)

Shall we just start a general rant-fest of a thread, "On-air personalities I can't stand...in HD"? Sorry, I just don't see this thread lasting very long. There are plenty of grating folks with a (HD) television camera pointed their way. Filter them out as you choose. Cheers!

Some people just can't be happy.

Stephen A. is the quintessential sports talk shock jock. He makes his living by saying outrageous things and pandering to his base of black sports fans. Jim Rome is a white guy who does exactly the same thing for a different segment of the sports talk market. Both of those guys are loud and frequently silly but both sometimes offer interesting insights. I record Rome’s afternoon show on ESPN but usually fast-forward through at least half of it. I also sometimes listen to Stephen A. on ESPN Radio but, as is the case with Rome, I can only take him in small doses. :)

I agree that Chris Berman is entirely different from either Stephen A. or Rome – and thank God for it. Berman is funny and good natured. He is often a clown but he avoids the exasperating, faux angry rants that have allowed Stephen A. and Rome both to make a nice living – and drive many of us NUTS.

That is your opinion I think Berman just plain sucks at calling a game he trys to hard to be something he is not which is a good anouncer IMHO

However;), Scott Van Pelt does a great impersonation of the guy.

I still can't figure out why he has to throw in long, obtuse words in every sentence. Just say what you mean. There is no need to impress English teachers when talking about NBA trades.

With regard to SAS, I used to lieten to ESPN Radio and DP's show. After he left, Mike Tirico has the first two hours and SAS, the last. After Tirico, the channel gets changed.

Just attitude drives me nuts.

He is loud and as attitude but a good tv personality and speaks the truth. I really dont know why his show got cancelled but they should just put him on 1st and 10 with Skip Bayless...Now that would be great

Because PTI is not filmed in HD. It's filmed in SD. PTI, and the show on before it (can't remember the name) are produced by another company for ESPN. And anyway, do you really want to see more of Kornheiser in HD? IMO, seeing him during the opening of MNF in HD is plenty for me.
