View Full Version : Oh crap...Pretty significant Pio question.

Well, as some of you know, I've been pretty obsessive with my basement remodling. I had everything planned to perfection. Everything. I thought there wasn't a single thing I missed until last night, lying in bed, the thought of callibration popped into my head. "Sure." I thought, "Why not spend a couple hundred more to make my new Pioneer Pro-150FD the best it can be?" and then with a big grin on my face I began drifting into sleep.

But, wait a minute. I'm plugging my Xbox 360, PS3, HD-DVD Player, and Verizon FiOs cable box all into my receiver (Denon 3808) with one HDMI cable running to the TV. Crap. This means I will only be using one input on the TV, making it impossible to calibrate different inputs for the different componets. /End peaceful sleep, begin pissy-ness

Man, this really pisses me off. Is there anyway to work around this? Either through the TV or the Receiver? This seems like it would be a pretty common problem with everyone running their components through their receivers nowadays.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Okay, I'll try that. I forgot about that forum, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place. If it is alright, I want to leave this one open here too, because different people browse these two forums.

Couldn't you have each setting configured then like User for the Cable, Standard for the 360, Movie for the PS3, etc.?

Most sources today can be configured to match the standard. This is not a major issue.

The Denon 3808 doesn't allow per input video adjustments? If not, you might consider a dedicated video processor if you are serious about this (as it seems you are judging from your equipment purchases and your decision to calibrate your display).

call me stupid, but I have mine hooked exactly as you described. 1 HDMI cable from the Denon 3808 to the PIO 150FD. Also have the Pio BR95, Tosh A35, DirectTv,( all HDMI ) and X360 ( component ). You can turn the upconverter off on the Denon so it has passthrough. The Pio has an upconverter built in to it too. I set my Denon to 1080p and let it eat.... Only issue is with Standard definition on Dtv, you get the grey bars. You can manually set it to stretch if you want, which is kinda a pain, but to be honest I watch HD most of the time anyway.

You could always get an HDMI switcher with 2 outs. Monoprice has one 4x2 for $90. If you have a universal, you can program everything, I have the harmany 880
