I was just wondering if any of you high end projector nuts have heard more about this unit. If it ends up at CEDIA I'd sure like to see it.

The higher on /off particularly ,for a three chip DLP ,interests me.

Nothing further than was posted a few weeks back. I have been given 2 prices $50k and $80k. Whether that means one is wrong or there are options is still unclear. If this unit achieves numbers even close to spec it will blow the high end sector wide open. It remains my front runner and I will be making no decisions for the new HT till I've seen this baby.

Ive heard that the iris is fixed variable so some of that contrast can be traded for lumen if needed. Being PD, I expect a stellar image.

Do you mean will they be available via the internet? I would guess no chance whatsoever. I know that the machine was delayed for further development and optimization. The delays, lack of info and announcements give me the impression that there are issues. I really have a hard time getting my head around the quoted spec numbers, they just seem so ridiculously good. If those are anywhere near achieved with similar color and grayscale linearity to some of their current models it will be mind blowing.

Im waiting for a reply to an email that may have more info, but i'm not banking on it.

Id also like to see the best tech implementations of the C3X1080 properly unleashed and married up to the HT5000s case and optics in a 2 lamp HOST form. With 2 lamps and a variable iris closed down a good bit that would provide some outstanding numbers. Id guess 2200-2400 calibrated lumen and 15k CR, and 3000l at 10k.Sweet

Yea ,that would be great also. The other night we measured just under 6000:1 on/off the 5000 with 1700 lumens.

What Coldmachine I think is saying is an HT5000 using say the DC4 chips or the coming DC5 chips. Looking inside an HT5000 it makes looking inside a C3x1080 like looking at a toy but it clearly isn't.

And Art calling affectionados of high end projectors nuts, that's funny. Anybody want to bet Art replaces his HT5000 with something twice street as soon as it comes out if it is a marked improvement? He can't make his screen any wider. Its over maxed out for his room. He can't have a party next fall saying he was so happy with what he had, he made no changes. Except projector wise, what could he do? I am listening Art. What are you dreaming about HT wise that is obtainable. I know you'd like at least 200,00 to 1 on/off CR and 40 ft lamberts but that doesn't exist.

And Art please do not use the word nuts anywhere around Coldmachine. He has been good for awhile but . . . . And no Coldmachine, I won't! So don't ask! :)

I do try to be good Mark, but they just let me out of my cage too often. This makes me do bad things.

You are were right regarding what I meant but its also referencing that I would have loved to see the case limitations removed from the 1080, but lets not yank that chain in public.
